Mission Statement: At Cyber Guard Research Lab, our mission is to safeguard emerging platforms, web frameworks and other widely-used technologies by uncovering software vulnerabilities, performing measurement analysis and developing robust defense solutions. Through the utilization of cutting-edge tools powered by Program Analysis, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, and LLM, we diligently identify potential threats and propose innovative strategies to fortify the cyber-physical ecosystem. Our commitment lies in ensuring the safety and security of these platforms, ultimately contributing to a more resilient digital landscape.

On-going Projects:
  • Software Security
    • Identifying vulnerable code and patch generation
  • IoT Security and Privacy
    • Attacks on Sensors to detect privacy leakages and introduce defense
  • LLM (/ML) Security and Privacy
    • Copyright detection in training corpus
    • Jailbreaking
    • Adversarial Content Generation using LLM
Cyber Guard Research Lab at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) is actively seeking self-motivated and talented students to join our research group. We are exploring cutting-edge topics in Software Security, IoT Security, and the Security and Privacy of Large Language Models and Machine Learning. Our work aims to develop innovative frameworks that combine advanced security analysis techniques with machine learning approaches. If you are interested, please send your CV and transcript to faysal.shezan@uta.edu. Strong programming skills are essential, and experience with ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow) would be a big plus.
